Grappling with a violent past: one mum's story of the Vietnam War

Part of the Kinderling Conversation for parents. Weekdays 12pm-1pm.

Wed 11 May 2016

17 mins

Ruth Clare wasn’t a part of the Vietnam War, but a legacy of violence from the war her father fought in had a lasting impact on her life, as a daughter and then a mother. She describes the experience as having been "born into the war still raging inside my father."

Having her own children made Ruth realise that maybe she could find a way to forgive her father. She recounts her painful and inspiring story in her acclaimed memoir, Enemy, and shares her story with us on Kinderling Conversation today.
