One romantic outback story written by five Sydney mums

Part of the Kinderling Conversation for parents. Weekdays 12pm-1pm.

If you think writing a novel is hard, try sitting down to write one with five busy women all juggling separate family and career commitments.

This is exactly what one mothers’ book club from Sydney set out to do – and they ended up with an international publishing deal.

'The Painted Sky', which has just been published in Australia by Random House, is officially written by Alice Campion, but there are actually five Alices: marriage celebrant Denise Tart, editor Jane Richards, former television comedy writer Jenny Crocker, documentary editor Jane St Vincent Welch and Madeline Oliver, a writer of young adult fiction.
