This week’s High Five feature album comes from the indigenous Sandhill Women of the Northern Territory - Kardajala Kirridarra! The group are Eleanor ‘Nalyiri’ Dixon, Janey ‘Namija’ Dixon, and MC Kayla Jackson from the Northern Territory communities of Marlinja and Kulumindini, with electronic production by Melbourne producer Beatrice Lewis.
Singing in both Mudburra and English, the songs explore empowering womens stories; from a girls coming of age, to celebrating a grandmother’s wisdom and the responsibility of being a caretaker of the land.
Kardajala Kirridarra is a powerful blend of traditional stories and contemporary electronic production that will transport kids and grown-ups alike.
