High Five: Live it Up! by Peter Combe

Each week Kinderling gives a HIGH FIVE to music, artists, albums and other stuff we think is awesome!

Peter Combe is a children’s music legend, so we’re so excited to have Live It Up! as our High Five this week. His 35-year career has produced a multitude of classic kids tunes and this new 22-track release is no exception.

On Live It Up, Peter has written a huge selection of songs, from modern folk acoustic to tunes of call and response, poetry and of course his creative musical stories that we’ve come to know and love. These range from a long-term friendship with a cat on ‘Talk About the Cat’, the quintessentially Australian sounds of magpies warbling on ‘Magpie’ and a rock epic about dinosaurs, ‘All of the Dinosaurs’.

Many parents know his songs as well as their children, since they grew up with them too. Peter joined Shevonne Hunt on Kinderling Conversation to talk more about writing the songs and explains why he still loves what he does, decades down the track.
