This week’s High Five feature is a calming release for the end of the day, The Starlighter by Shawn Colvin.
Adapted from children’s music book Lullabies and Night Songs by American composer Alec Wilder with illustrations by Maurice Sendak, Shawn has recorded a precious mix of nursery rhymes and lullabies.
The whole album has a smooth jazz feel, particularly the title track, ‘The Starlighter’, plus there’s the lyrical ‘Many Million Years Ago’ and the light and playful ‘The Nut Tree’.
The Starlighter is an intriguing release that will have you hanging on to each note (as long as you’re not lulled to sleep of course!). That’s why it’s our High Five this week.
