'90s Boy Bands

A Retro Rewind episode. Saturdays and Sundays 12pm to 1pm.

Mon 30 April 2018

It's time to introduce the boy bands of our youth to the New Kids On The Block!

I Swear, you'll have to Keep on Movin' to these bangers as Step by Step we take the journey back to the 90's. No matter What, the whole family will be MMMBopping over this selection of hits. Here are our favourites from the genre (which you can listen to in our free app!).

1. *NSYNC - I Want You Back

The band that gave JT his true start in pop.

2. New Kids On The Block - Step by Step

While NKOTB saw a bit of controversy in the ‘90s (lip syncing allegations, change of musical direction, their breakup), we couldn’t make this playlist without them.

3. Savage Garden - The Animal Song

Can’t forget our local stars! Out of Brisbane, Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones smashed it with this drum heavy tune.

4. 98° - Because Of You

Nick Lachey was the drawcard of this crew, well before the days of his reality show with former wife, Jessica Simpson. RIP Newlyweds.

5. Backstreet Boys - As Long As You Love Me

While we’re ecstatic the band’s back to together, the old school tunes will always be our go to. Remember yelling this one at the top of your lungs with the door closed and your hairbrush mic on?

6. Boyzone - No Matter What

Thank you, Boyzone, for giving us Ronan Keating. Those dulcet Irish tones still get us through the day.

7. Boyz II Men - On Bended Knee

Emotional ballads, a capella harmonies. This track spent over 50 cumulative weeks sitting at number one.

8. All-4-One - I Swear

The Grammy-award winning group move us to the core to this day.

9. 5ive - Keep On Movin'

Over 3,000 people auditioned for the group (including Russell Brand!), and the group took pointers from The Backstreet Boys, NKOTB, and *NSYNC. If the format ain’t broke, don’t fix it! The point of difference – they wrote or co-wrote almost all of their own songs.

10. Hanson – MMMBop

A literal boy band, these kids were far from adulthood when this banger hit the world.

11. Westlife - If I Let You Go (Radio Edit)

Another Irish band (what’s in the waters up there?!) that stole our hearts and entered our CD players. The late ‘90s were made great ‘cause of you.

12. Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way

Another one perfect for belting out in the shower. Love them bathroom acoustics!

13. Take That - Back For Good

#neverforget these early days of Robbie Williams.
