There's no denying that 2019 has been a scorcher of a year for kids' movies. Disney have already released Aladdin, Dumbo and Toy Story 4 - and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Here's the releases you still have to look forward this year.
June/July School Holidays
The Lion King - July 18
Beyoncé as Nala, Donald Glover as Simba, and the original James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa? There's a whole lot to get excited about in this upcoming Disney remake.
September School Holidays
Dora and the Lost City of Gold - 19 September
The original league of Dora the Explorer fanatics are now reaching tweendom, and this adaptation of the show will be right up their alley. Now a teenager, Dora's newest adventure will require her to solve the mystery behind a lost golden city AND save her parents. No biggie, right?
Abominable - 19 September
From the people who gave us How to Train Your Dragon comes this story of a lost magical yeti who must return to their family (with the help of new friends, of course). Once again they've nailed the adorable beast character - but this time it's an endearing abominable snowman, not Toothless the dragon.
Ugly Dolls - 19 September
These Ugly Dolls learn what it means to be different, struggle with a desire to be loved, and end up finding out what matters most - sounds like a heartwarming good time to us!
The Angry Birds Movie 2 - 12 September
The animated phone game is back with a second blockbuster (who saw that coming?!) and it'll have the flightless birds and scheming green pigs taking their rivalry to a whole new level.
Maleficent 2 - October 17
Admittedly this is probably on the 'too scary' scale for many kids - but if you liked Angelina Jolie's take on the villainous Maleficent in the original live action remake, you'll be wanting to see where her story goes.
Christmas School Holidays
Playmobil: The Movie - December 5
After the Lego Movie was such a hit, the creators have decided to branch out with the Playmobil version. It has kids getting sucked into a magical, animated universe where they have to find a way to get home. Sounds like a recipe for kids' movie success!
The Addams Family - December 5
The name alone probably has you humming the theme tune - and now everybody's favourite spooky family is back with an all-new animated story - reminding us that every family is weird, but not all families are as weird as this! Featuring Chloe Grace Moretz as Wednesday Addams and Charlize Theron as the voice of Morticia, it's obviously got an all-star budget.
The Queen's Corgi - December 12
Rex, her animated majesty's favourite Corgi, goes missing and winds up in a dog fight club. He must find his way back to his royal abode - a narrative trope that appears to be extremely popular in the movies!
Frozen 2 - December 26
Of course, you can't write this list and not include the most anticipated kids' release of the year. The original movie captured the hearts of kids across the globe - and they just couldn't 'Let It Go' - so Elsa, Anna and the gang are back, and there's even bigger troubles to solve.
If you're keen to get even more preemptively excited, there's already a lot to look forward slated for release next year - with lots to debut at the start of the year during the summer holidays.
Spies in Disguise and The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle will debut on January 1. The first sees the world's best spy turned into a pigeon (we're intrigued), while the latter will follow the famous story of the doctor who can speak to animals - rounded up with an all-star cast featuring Robert Downey Jr, Emma Thompson, Ralph Fiennes, Selena Gomez and Tom Holland.
Not to be overlooked - A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon will also be hitting cinemas on January 6!
Disney will continue its remake spree with the release of Mulan, and release an original story Onward in March (we have hope it'll be the new Up!)
The all-new tale of Peter Rabbit will come to life once again, the all-new Trolls movie will hit cinemas on March 26, Sonic The Hedgehog comes out in April, and for fans of the Artemis Fowl books - they'll also get their silver screen debut in May.
