20 awesome baby names from your fave Netflix shows

From drama to comedy, to period pieces, TV shows are a great way to add ideas to your baby name list.
Since most of us spend hours a week watching Netflix (come on, let’s be honest), you may as well get some inspo from the exercise!
1. Eleanor from The Good Place

Eleanor means ‘ray of light’ or ‘sunlight’ and is a version of the French name Alienor. It's also the name of Kristen Bell's character in The Good Place.
2. Archie from Riverdale
K J Apa plays Archie in this drama based on the comic book series of the same name. Derived from Archibald, this name means ‘truly brave’.
3. Kip from Collateral
Carey Mulligan plays Kip in the new Netflix series Collateral. A variation of Christopher or Kipp, this can mean ‘bearer of Christ’ or ‘pointed hill’.
4. Antoni from Queer Eye
This is a version of Anthony and means ‘priceless one’ and if you've watched Queer Eye we are sure you'll agree. And possibly be craving avocado.
5. Blair from Gossip Girl

Because you could do a lot worse than be named after Leighton Meester's sassy, snobby Blair Waldorf. This Scottish name meaning ‘dweller on the plain’.
6. Elsa from Atypical
In Netflix hit Atypical, Jennifer Jason Leigh plays the wound-up mum of a child on the spectrum. This German name is derived from Elisabeth and means ‘pledged to God’. It just so happens this is also name made well-known by a certain Disney film… you know which one!
7. Jamie from Outlander
Sam Heughan plays the beloved, kilt-adorned Jamie Fraser in Outlander. Derived from James, this name means ‘supplanter’. And while not on Netflix, if you’re a Game of Thrones fan, you could spell a tad differently – Jaime.
8. Rory from Gilmore Girls

This Irish name made famous by Gilmore Girls’ Alexis Bledel means ‘red king’. In the show, it’s the nickname for Lorelai, but can also be a shortened form of Aurora.
9. Ruth from Glow
Alison Brie plays struggling actor turned wrestler Ruth in the brilliant series, Glow. Ruth is a Hebrew name meaning ‘compassionate friend’.
10. Dustin from Stranger Things

This German name made famous by Stranger Things means ‘brave warrior’ and this character is played by the genius Gaten Matarazzo.
11. Philip from Shameless
Lip - or Philip - seems to be everyone's favourite Shameless character. He's played by Jeremy Allen White. This Greek name shared by Lip AND Prince Philip of The Crown means ‘lover of horses’.
12. Lorna from Orange Is The New Black

This Scottish name means ‘from Lorne’ and was made popular by the book Lorna Doone. Australian actor Yael Stone plays Lorna Morello in Orange Is The New Black.
13. Sol from Grace and Frankie
Sam Waterston plays Sol in this hit series starring Jane Fonda. A Spanish name, Sol literally means ‘sun’.
14. Peggy from Mad Men

One of Mad Men's stand-out characters, this Greek name, derived from Margaret, means ‘pearl’. And Peggy - played by Elisabeth Moss - was a gem, truth be told.
15. Javier from Narcos
Pedro Pascal plays this role in Narcos. Pronounced hah-vyee-AIR, his Spanish name means ‘new house or bright’.
16. Ellie - via Broadchurch
Olivia Coleman plays the stoic and clever Ellie in Broadchurch. Derived from Eleanor or Ellen, this name means ‘bright shining one’.
17. Martin from Ozark
Jason Bateman is Marti in edge-of-your-seat drama Ozark. His Latin-origin name means ‘warlike’, which is apt.
18. Elizabeth from The Crown

Elizabeth - also Claire Foy's name in the much loved The Crown - means ‘pledged to God’ and is a Hebrew name.
19. Arnold from Master of None
Eric Wareheim plays Arnold on the very funny Master of None. This English/German name means ‘ruler, strong as an eagle’ which seems fitting.
20. Silas from Weeds
Hunter Parrish plays Silas in the classic, brilliant series, Weeds. This English/Latin name means ‘wood, forest’.
