Georgina Dent is a mother of three, contributing editor for Women's Agenda, and host of our podcast, Your Family, Your Money. Ahead of her appearance on The Parent Panel, we get to know her a little better.
1. What is your favourite thing about being a mother?
Hands down, it is listening to them talk. Living vicariously through a little person as they discover the world and put words and questions around it is a genuine joy.
2. What’s your favourite thing to do with your children?
Spending time with them when they're having fun. Practising handstands and cartwheels is the happiest place for our older girls who are five & seven. I love being in the car with them too as we always get a chance to chat, and reading books with my youngest who is nearly two. Actually doing anything with our two year old is adorable as (most of the time) she's pretty thrilled with life and creates joy wherever she roams.
3. What is the thing you miss most about life pre-children?
I can barely remember! The cliche of it is probably sleep.
4. What has been the biggest surprise for you about being a mother?
That there are no weekends, no annual leave and no sick pay. The fact parents haven't unionised still surprises me.
5. What does 'me time' look like for you?
Ideally doing anything that helps me refill my tank; whether that's going for a walk, reading a book, meeting a friend for coffee or going out for dinner with my husband. It's a moving target depending on the week.
