Skate parks and morning coffees: Ryan Johnson dishes on dadhood

Kinderling News & Features

When Aussie actor Ryan Johnson isn't busy setting hearts aflutter on screens as Matt Knight on the smash-hit show, Doctor Doctor, he's busy keeping up with his three-year-old daughter, scooting in skateparks and wrestling shoes on in the morning.

He opens up about five of the things he loves, has been surprised by, and has learned from being a dad.

1. What is your favourite thing about being a father?

The endless pit of love in my belly that turns me into a lovesick puppy around my three-year-old.

2. What’s your favourite thing to do with your daughter?

I love taking her out to the local coffee shop in the morning while Mum sleeps. We go and and have time together before the day starts, and chat to locals. I love taking her to the skate park too. I skate and she scoots.

3. What is the thing you miss most about life before you became a father?

Lying around and watching whatever I want on a Sunday.

4. What has been the biggest surprise for you about being a parent?

I never thought I’d enjoy routine but now I can’t live without it!!

5. What does 'me time' look like for you?

Long jog/gym time. A trip to the cinema alone is very exciting these days.
