How did you start this year?  Emily Wurramara welcomed in 2018 as a new mum and released her first album Milyakburra.

If you don’t know her music yet, you’re sure to have heard her beautiful voice on Kinderling Kids Radio singing lullabies in language.

In 2016, Emily's debut EP Black Smoke was released and she became a Triple J Unearthed feature artist and BigSound festival winner. Since then she's performed all over the country from coast to coast.

Cinnamon Nippard caught up with Emily to chat about how life has changed since the birth of her daughter on Boxing Day 2017, the importance of singing in language, and mermaids.

You can buy a digital copy of Emily's album Milyakburra from her Bandcamp or you can order a physical copy from Emily's website.

You can hear some of Emily's tracks on the Kinderling airwaves as well as a mixtape programmed by the woman herself as part of Kinderling's 2018 NAIDOC week celebrations.

Make sure you never miss out on expert advice and stories from real parents by subscribing to Kinderling ConversationAvailable in iTunesSpotifyStitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts.
