Connecting with our kids

Life can be busy. There’s a lot of things to fit into a day, and sometimes it’s hard to find one-on-one time with your child. Shevonne connects with her kids through “hug time”.

Dangerous playground equipment

A childhood injury report funded by the Western Australia Government found that monkey bars are one of the most dangerous pieces of play equipment for kids. David Eager a professor of risk management at the University of Technology Sydney told the Sydney Morning Herald:  "Monkey bars were okay when I was a kid 60 years ago, but they’re not an appropriate form of play equipment in 2018." The panel discuss if banning monkey bars is the way to go, or if it's a case of an over-protective nanny state.

Teachers and Christmas gifts

You may not remember giving you teachers presents at Christmas time when you were young, but it’s definitely a thing now. Some schools or day care will have a parent who organises a big gift and ask for people to contribute money. Early learning educators can be tricky – because there’s always more than one. It’s an expensive and time poor time of the year. So should we be factoring teacher gifts into our festive season budget, or is it excessive?

The ultimate parenting invention

Making the rounds this week, just in time for warmer weather, were water-friendly baby carriers, just genius! What piece of parenting equipment do think needs to be invented? (most creative answer gets the most points) Or what parenting gadget has helped you with your own kids?
