When you adopt a child from another country, how important is it to be able to trace their birth family?
The Federal Government has put it low on their list of priorities as they plan to end funding to one of the key organisations providing families with that support; the Intercountry Adoption Tracing and Reunification Service provided by International Social Service Australia.
At the beginning of 2018 Tina Marie Sheil used the service to track down her seven-year-old daughter's birth mother in Thailand.
She opens up about the process of finding her daughter's birth mother, the impact it had on their family, and what happened on the emotional day that they finally found her.
