When your child is diagnosed with having a neurological difference, working out how to help them can consume your every waking moment.
Chris Bonello, founder of Autistic Not Weird, says that while this is understandable, parents need to be careful not to define their child by the diagnosis. He says the most important predictor of a happy child is to celebrate their strengths, wherever they happen to be.
Chris was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of 25. He is in Australia to speak at Autism at the House, an evening of talks presented by Autism Awareness Australia. For more information on the event check out their website.
